Short Description

The Cost Accountant/ERP Coordinator is responsible for the day to day manufacturing accounting in a growing business. He/She will assist the branch manager and strategic sales director in assuring all of the accounting transactions are performed in a timely accurate manner. In addition, the position will be responsible for the coordination of the Netsuite ERP system.

Responsibilities

Cost Accounting 

  • Assuring all transactions are correctly input
  • Reports are generated properly
  • Standard Costs are maintained and updated as directed
  • Maintain accurate physical inventory and periodically coordinate counts
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy: ex. payroll, WO closeouts, etc.
  • Reviews and responds to needs from the system and shop in terms of questions regarding ordering, receiving, shipping, work orders and inventory
  • Supports cost reduction activities

General Accounting

  • Apply the various accounting data to the GL system
  • Maintain the master records
  • Follows up on issues with the branch manager, strategic sales director, and Herc Accounting

Inventory

  • Direct cycle count activities
  • Assures purchases, processing, movement and shipping are properly accounted for

Reports

  • Develops reports from the ERP system for the various functional areas to enable them to understand their areas

ERP Systems

  • Answers questions on the proper use of the Netsuite ERP system
  • Coordinates with Netsuite as required

Requirements

The successful candidate should have an accounting degree with a minimum of five years experience in a manufacturing concern. Preferably, the candidate should have experience with Netsuite or an equivalent system. He/She should be a self-starter and have the ability to handle the changing priorities that present themselves. The position reports directly to the branch manager at Herc Entertainment Services (HES), but takes much of their direction from the Director Strategic Sales Entertainment as well as interaction with Herc corporate accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Seeking an Electronic Engineer / Mechatronic Engineer / Mechanical Engineer (with electronic skills) for a position that will require maintaining, updating and modifying a range of electronic and mechanical systems.
  • This is a diverse position; the candidate will be included in future design work, while also participating in streamlining the building of new designs, updating and upgrading existing systems.
  • Daily activity will require: Cross functional coordination to assemble, test and debug new systems and debug and repair existing systems.
  • Periodic stress testing new and existing systems to discover weaknesses.
  • The Engineer will be responsible for documenting new and existing designs, preparing work-flow documents and procedures for use on production lines.
  • Participation in the development of manuals, labels and technical documents.
  • Sourcing parts and technologies.
  • Assisting and mentoring junior technician with fault finding. (Ensure quality is maintained.)

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • An Electrical (electronic) Engineering degree with small mechanical (e.g. motors / DC drives / Stepper drives) experience (2 Years hands-on), or

Mechanical Engineering degree with electronic control (e.g. motors / DC drives / Stepper drives) experience (2 Years hands-on), or

A Mechatronic Engineer with 2 years of hands-on experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with embedded systems, microprocessors and peripherals.
  • Ability to read and understand embedded systems’ schematics, with the ability to understand how the ports function and connect to peripherals.
  • Must be able to understanding the use of serial data systems such as I2C and SPI.
  • The ability to read and modify C for embedded systems
  • Understand and modify Windows Python.
  • 1 – 2 years demonstrated experience working with SMD parts, removal and soldering.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and the ability to understand high voltage equipment, to facilitate safe servicing and repair.
  • STM32 and AVR experience would be an advantage.
  • Experience updating and programing control boards via an ISP port.
  • Understanding of XBEE’s – use / limitations.
  • Able to develop GUI aps for windows using Python with tkinter.
  • Understanding of RS485 architecture and serial data transfer via DMX.
  • An eye for electronic or mechanical issues which are not obvious to everyone.
  • Ability to visually recognise dry joints and other PCB issues.
  • Ability to wire panels and fixtures meticulously.
  • Must have good communication skills, and be able to work with junior staff and customers.
  • The ability to work with minimal oversight.

Short Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Electronics technician with a mechanical aptitude.  Your diverse range of experience will enable you to understand both commercial technology and our proprietary designs.  Some devices run on 220VAC (up to 100A) and 320VDC, so it is vital that you understand the dangers of high voltage and power systems and that you are able to work safely with such equipment. 

Apart from the high voltage systems, our low voltage equipment typically comprises of an integrated system of control electronics, motors and simple servos.  You will have at least a basic understanding and knowledge of ISP programing using a PC linked programmer (e.g. STLINK, AVR).  Our equipment uses proprietary embedded firmware, which requires periodic upgrades and maintenance – however, this position does not require embedded systems firmware development.  Most repair work will involve swapping boards, however, component level abilities will be and asset.  Your fine motor skills and electronic soldering experience will enable you to solder through-hole parts on to PCBs, XLR plugs and sockets.  You will also be able to work neatly with #4 cables cutting stripping and terminating using crimp connectors.

On a day to day basis your intuition will enable you to assist shipping and receiving personnel doing repairs to rental equipment.  This may involve electrical and mechanical issues.  The ability to read schematics and understand how our units work is an important part of your job. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain (especially pre-emptive), update and repair electronic equipment. 
  • Maintain records related to electronic equipment.
  • Assist with a variety of related tasks that may be assigned to you.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a 2 year college program in electrical/electronic engineering technology or an equivalent area of study. 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ progressive, relevant work experience in electrical/electronic engineering field.
  • Excellent communication skills (English) in both oral and written, as well as the ability to clearly communicate technical information.
  • Must be physically fit and able to periodically lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work overtime and/or weekends when required to complete necessary tasks.
  • Able to work and communicate with co-workers in a pleasant and helpful manner, while explaining faults and how to correct them.
  • The ability to program in python would be an advantage.

Short Description

A Herc Machinist will assist with the manufacturing of LRX Robotic Equipment made exclusively for the Film and Entertainment Industry across North America and abroad.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have an adept knowledge to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, three-dimensional CAD drawings, charts and tables to determine correct machining operation, such as lathes and mills in order to machine or grind components to precise measurements.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Experience in set-up and operation of CNC Machines (Mills & Lathes).
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools to fit and assemble machined parts.
  • Perform pre-start inspections and basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure standards for safe working conditions are followed and participate in all Company safety training programs and requirements.

Short Description

The Paint Technician will prepare, paint and inspect finished painted products to meet a consistently high-quality standard in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position will also include the cleaning and maintaining of the paint department to include the paint room, wash area, and the paint gun.

  • Select and formulate appropriate paints and chemicals for pre-washing of parts.
  • Tend to or operate equipment to wash and prepare parts for application of paint to include inspection.
  • Maintain the Log Sheet associated with record keeping.
  • Tend to or operate paint spray gun and paint room to include maintenance of the filters.
  • Clean and maintain ventilation, compressed air, and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to for each piece of equipment during operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain paint area is clean and clear of hazards.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous Painting experience within a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of a paint gun, wash area, paint room, and to include maintenance.
  • Must be able to read, write, communicate and comprehend English.
  • Working knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S.
  • Commitment to safety in the workplace and quality assurance of finished products.
  • Effective decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment with good organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Having a working knowledge of paint and chemicals would be an asset.

Short Description

The Maintenance Person performs semi-skilled maintenance duties related to electrical, heating, mechanical and plumbing systems and building equipment; performs a variety of duties related to the general maintenance of the building and contents plus may assist with construction and other projects.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange for the immediate repair of defective equipment.
  • Regulates and repairs taps, toilets, etc. Unstops taps and drains depending upon complexity of operations.
  • Conducts routine inspections, changes light bulbs, connects light fixtures to outlets, and other related duties. May be required to test electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using pre-set instruments.
  • Conducts routine inspections on electrical and mechanical equipment (e.g., pressure vessels, pumps, fans, electrical motors, etc.).
  • Completes assignments according to priority and documents services provided. Completes minor duties on planned preventive maintenance program and documents service provided.
  • Receives supplies and stores in designated areas.
  • Ensures that on-site work areas are clean and safe and ensures walkways are kept free of snow, ice, and debris.
  • Completes all routine fire and other preventative maintenance inspections on a scheduled basis and ensures appropriate recordkeeping.
  • Observes all fire, safety, and health regulations and is alert for the safety of staff members, and the public. Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Promptly reports/takes corrective action to address actual or potentially hazardous situations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • One to two years’ experience in a related capacity. A working knowledge of  WHMIS.
  • Grade 12 Diploma with some related supplemental technical training is preferred.
  • Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to perform required physical duties which may include bending, kneeling, reaching, standing for extended periods of time, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying boxes, tools and equipment up to 50 pounds.

  • Develop and maintain a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at your branch

The purpose of the Tractor Trailer Driver position is to transport, deliver and retrieve assorted construction and heavy equipment and to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe and timely manner. An individual in this position will operate both commercial and non-commercial vehicles in a safe and efficient manner. He/she performs at a high standard of quality level within the branch and outside of the branch. He/she has mastered the operating standards of the facility, the region and corporation.

Responsibilities

  • Transport, deliver and retrieve assorted construction and heavy equipment
  • Operate commercial or non-commercial vehicles in a safe, efficient and professional manner

  • Perform vehicle inspections before and after pickups and deliveries

  • Secure construction equipment and other equipment by means of chaining, strapping, and blocking under the strict accordance and established procedures of the DOT policies

  • Report to the branch manager or central dispatcher of any damage to Herc Rentals property that is uncovered by the driver during the process of picking up the equipment from the customer
  • Report any and all accidents involving the driver or equipment to Branch Manager or Central Dispatch
  • Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather, traffic conditions, or any other problems relating to timely pickups or delivery of equipment
  • Maintain flexibility in daily routine in order to respond to Management’s responses to the customer demands
  • Ensure proper paperwork & logs are maintained accurately on a daily basis

Responsibilities

Custodian:

  • Responsible for cleaning entire shop building including, but not limited to washrooms/change rooms, kitchen, laundry room, sweeping/mopping floors and stairways, cleaning windows, cleaning bay doors, cleaning doors, washing walls, cleaning of equipment, i.e. machinery, bolt bins, cabinets, etc., picking up trash and emptying of garbage bins.

Parts Runner:

  • Responsible for picking up/returning/delivering of parts throughout GTA, Toronto, Mississauga areas using Company pick-up truck.

  • Initial account set up – corresponding with coordinators to get all paperwork completed, entering accounts into E-Apply, assisting the Credit Team to get any missing information
  • Updating existing accounts with their current COIs. Contacting customers when their COIs are expired for updated versions.
  • Taking emails and calls regarding invoice questions
  • Providing missing invoices to accounts when requested
  • Emailing up to date statements to accounts – done through Herc Intranet
  • Monitoring the AR Aging Summary on RentalMan and keeping on top of accounts balances (especially the 90 and 120 days past due columns) (3-75)
  • Taking credit card payment (via credit card authorization form) on the in-office terminal
  • Daily Cash Control Entry on RentalMan (1-53-2)
  • Scanning and emailing the credit card report and receipts to the Canada Credit Card Team with a break down of the payment information (account number, name and invoice number)
